I installed CentOS from the minimal iso image. I then installed

yum groupinstall Desktop

In gnome-terminal, a very strange font was installed, letters were overlapping and huge spaces were between other letters. /etc/sysconfig/i18n contained

LANG="en_US.UTF-8" SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"

Then I have found

http://serverfault.com/questions/430239/centos-6-gnome-terminal-font-is-garbled-until-arabic-support-is-installed/430256#430256 [^]

where it is reported that Arabic support installation cures the problem, and, it can be simply reduced to installing

dejavu-sans-mono-fonts

And, indeed it solved the problem.

I did not find a Desktop project to assign this report to, so set gnome-terminal here.

Would it be possible to add dejavu-sans-mono-fonts to the Desktop install group?
