The problem appears after -udev- completes successfully, when booting from my hard drive. The monitor appears to attempt to synchronize with the software without success. <br />
<br />
The problem appears -smartd- starts and a brief text login message appears, when running SuperGrub2, version 2.00 Beta 5.<br />
<br />
The problem doesn't appear at all when running the Centos 5.5 LiveCD.<br />
<br />
The problem appears similar to that encountered here,<br />

except that I couldn't find the Backtrace messages in the Xorg logs.<br />

While there are differences in the Xorg.conf file on my hard drive and the liveCD, changing it to that on my liveCD didn't work. See Additional Information.<br />

I'm also got many gdm[nnnn] messages that I didn't get on the liveCD. See Additional Information. <br />
