When the SRPMs were removed from mirror streams and placed onto the vault.centos.org server, it appears the common /5/ -> /5.7/ symlink wasn't created in the new location; the new /os/SRPMS/ dir also is missing the repo metainformation commonly and previously generated for use in the mirrors.<br />

In order to offer the same functionality, it may be something worthwhile to re-create. While the OS RPMs and other repos can easily be used through minor updates via yum, the lack of the corresponding symlink and repo info means maintaining a coherent and persistently in-tune source for SRPMs via YUM et al becomes a non-trivial effort, unlike the previous compatible layout (and, perhaps, how it's still done in C6).
