After banging my head agains a brick wall I found that the rsyslog initscript sets the umask of the service to be 077.<br /> <br /> If this would be set using the $FileCreateMode setting of rsyslog.conf, one could change the create mode for logfiles without having to hack the initscript (which will be overwritten on every rsyslog update.
