Just bought a brand new toshiba R930 with intel IvyBridge GT2 graphics hardware, and installed CentOS 6.3 x86_64 on it. I intend to use this machine not only for handling text, code, calculations etc, but also for presentations. For that purpose, I want the VGA and HDMI ports of the machine to work properly.<br />
<br />
When booting the machine from disk, the X-server loads the vesa_drv driver for the graphics hardware, rather than the intel driver, and thus disables the external monitor ports. ddc module gets loaded in the process, xrandr reports the lcd screen only.<br />
When I boot the machine from the CentOS 6.3 live DVD, the intel_drv driver gets loaded properly, and the external video ports function as they should. No loading of ddc module, xrandr reports all video ports of the machine.
