0016302: http-parser library missing from development packages

*Build:* 8.0

*Summary:* http-parser-devel missing from available packages

*Impact:* can not build applications using http-parser

*Workarounds:* install 8.1

*Detailed Description:* Missing core development package libraries in standard development repo streams.
sudo dnf install http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/rhel/rhel-8-beta/appstream/x86_64/Packages/http-parser-devel-2.8.0-1.el8.x86_64.rpm http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/rhel/rhel-8-beta/appstream/x86_64/Packages/http-parser-2.8.0-1.el8.x86_64.rpm

0016303: misssing grpc and grpc-devel packages

$

*Build:* 8.0

*Summary:* grpc and grpc-devel packages missing from package stream for protoc

*Impact:* can not build most packages using protobuf defined communications

*Workarounds:* remove cruft from base system, install source, build and install protoc and grpc
Essentially what is in place is not of use so remove and replace.
recommend protoc >= 3.9
recommend grpc >= v1.22

*Detailed Description:* When grpc is not present, protoc can not build many components that have correctly defined proto definitions. The choice of protoc compiler is too out of date to be of practical use. We have an opportunity at the centos 8 release to bring the packages close to the head of the development process allowing years of stability. This is an opportune time to upgrade. In addtion protoc now supports ruby which is missing from the version installed.

See related issue : 0016301

0016301: protobuf compiler out of date and missing support for grpc

$
0
0
*Build:* 8.0

*Summary:* The protobuf compiler requires a minimal version to support case insensitive keys, recommend version protobuf >= 3.7 which builds fine on v8.
The protobuf compiler, in order to support grpc specifications in the proto file definition of components, requires that the grpc package is built and installed on the system. Without grpc package installed the protoc compiler is missing core functionality.

*Impact:* Can not use protoc that is provided with the release to build most base packages. A key example is the standard package etcd.

*Workarounds:*
sudo dnf erase protobuf-compiler protobuf protobuf-c protobuf-devel

download protobuf
download grpc
build and install packages

*Detailed Description:*
Recommend for centos8 upgraded as far as possible in the protobuf and grpc available packages as this is an excellent point to move as close to the main branch as possible.

Recommend coupling grpc and protobuf for a development stream so that they can be moved together and upgraded as a unit.

0016304: Remove fedora-build-checks backing volume from openstack

I would like to have persistent storage for rpminspect jobs that are currently running in a jenkins instance in apps.ci.centos.org but ran into a problem with the contents of that volume and had to delete it. I believe that the volume name was "fedora-build-checks".

As I understand the setup, the backing storage volume needs to be deleted by an admin before it can be re-created from openshift.

Please delete the backing volume so that I can re-create it.

We are currently getting weird test failures [1] on some of our tests. This is the root cause, in `oc rsh centosci-tasks-6lx8h`:

```
$ ls -l fedora-30-caf27ed0e34e2019cbf8db0b02d97a006f9df21fbe32b3c90a95c5833acf1496.qcow2
-rw----r--. 1 nobody nobody 1954721792 Jul 19 02:33 fedora-30-caf27ed0e34e2019cbf8db0b02d97a006f9df21fbe32b3c90a95c5833acf1496.qcow2
$ sha256sum fedora-30-caf27ed0e34e2019cbf8db0b02d97a006f9df21fbe32b3c90a95c5833acf1496.qcow2
caf27ed0e34e2019cbf8db0b02d97a006f9df21fbe32b3c90a95c5833acf1496 fedora-30-caf27ed0e34e2019cbf8db0b02d97a006f9df21fbe32b3c90a95c5833acf1496.qcow2
$ qemu-img info fedora-30-caf27ed0e34e2019cbf8db0b02d97a006f9df21fbe32b3c90a95c5833acf1496.qcow2
qemu-img: Could not open '/build/images/fedora-30-caf27ed0e34e2019cbf8db0b02d97a006f9df21fbe32b3c90a95c5833acf1496.qcow2': Could not read qcow2 header: Input/output error
```

In other words, reading the file is fine (the SHA sum is correct when comparing it to other pods), but qemu-img is upset.

However, this lives on a shared volume, all other pods are fine with it. I validated this with
```
for pod in $(oc get -o name -l infra=cockpit-tasks pods); do echo "===== $pod ===="; oc describe $pod | grep Node; oc rsh $pod qemu-img info /build/images/fedora-30-caf27ed0e34e2019cbf8db0b02d97a006f9df21fbe32b3c90a95c5833acf1496.qcow2; done
```

The broken pod is the only one that runs on the n22.kempty node, the others seem fine. As `strace` does not work in docker containers, I can't think of a further way to examine this. Does that node have something funky in its journal, or could you try to run `strace` on the qemu-img on the node?

Perhaps it just needs a reboot?

Note, I will kill this pod now until I catch one that runs somewhere else.

[1] https://logs-https-cockpit.apps.ci.centos.org/logs/pull-12152-20190731-085959-208f9b6d-cockpit-project-cockpit-fedora-30-selenium-firefox/log.html

0016242: SMB/CIFS server connection stalls accessing files using kernel-3.10.0-957.21.3.el7

When accessing files on a SMB share on a CentOS server running kernel 3.10.0-957.21.3.el7 the connection appears to stall. The client will hang and eventually log something along the line of:

kernel: CIFS VFS: Server *** has not responded in 120 seconds. Reconnecting...
kernel: CIFS VFS: Send error in read = -11

- The issue does not occur when the server is running an older kernel, including kernel-3.10.0-957.21.2.el7.x86_64.
- Reliably triggered by reading several files (e.g. `grep "something" * -R` or `git status`)
- Listing files does not appear to trigger the issue
- Tested with fully patched CentOS 7 and Ubuntu 18.04 as clients

Running a virsh migrate --copy-storage-all, will take a 'sparse' image on the source, and create a bloated image on destination.

0016307: cd /lkjsdf ; source junkfile logs me off

Running tcsh 6.18.81 Astron

From command line and from inside tcsh scripts

cd /lkjsdf ; source junkfile

Logs me off if lkjsdf does not exist. Works fine for existing directories.

junkfile can be empty or contain anything, it is properly executed and THEN
user is logged out.

Contruct is used as a way to created on the fly prompts depending upon directory one cd's into.

Usually cd is aliased to ' cd \!* ; source prompt '
where prompt is a tsch script of arbitrary complexity.

Using this alias any cd into a non existent directory causes an immediate logout.

Homer W. Description of problem:
Problem is located specifically to the card, a USB WiFi adapter does not have the problem. Seems to be after the machine is running for more than 20mins. Doesn't seem to be any specific cause.
Loses connectivity and doesn't show any networks when scanning. System reboot seems only fix, but is temporary. Problem seems also be be distro agnostic, Win 10 Enterprise doesn't have the issue so looks like it is a Linux issue somewhere.

Version-Release number of selected component:
kernel

Truncated backtrace:
WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 0 at drivers/net/wireless/intel/iwlwifi/pcie/trans.c:1874 iwl_trans_pcie_grab_nic_access+0xed/0x100 [iwlwifi]
Timeout waiting for hardware access (CSR_GP_CNTRL 0xffffffff)
Modules linked in: tcp_lp rfcomm fuse cmac xt_CHECKSUM ipt_MASQUERADE nf_nat_masquerade_ipv4 tun devlink drbg ansi_cprng ccm ip6t_rpfilter ipt_REJECT nf_reject_ipv4 ip6t_REJECT nf_reject_ipv6 xt_conntrack ip_set nfnetlink ebtable_nat ebtable_broute bridge stp llc ip6table_nat nf_conntrack_ipv6 nf_defrag_ipv6 nf_nat_ipv6 ip6table_mangle ip6table_security ip6table_raw iptable_nat nf_conntrack_ipv4 nf_defrag_ipv4 nf_nat_ipv4 nf_nat nf_conntrack iptable_mangle iptable_security iptable_raw ebtable_filter ebtables ip6table_filter ip6_tables iptable_filter bnep sunrpc vfat fat arc4 iwlmvm edac_mce_amd kvm_amd kvm mac80211 irqbypass crc32_pclmul ghash_clmulni_intel dell_led snd_hda_codec_realtek dell_wmi dell_smbios sparse_keymap snd_hda_codec_generic snd_hda_codec_hdmi snd_hda_intel btusb iwlwifi
snd_hda_codec btrtl btbcm btintel aesni_intel snd_hda_core dcdbas bluetooth lrw gf128mul uvcvideo snd_hwdep glue_helper snd_seq ablk_helper cryptd videobuf2_vmalloc snd_seq_device videobuf2_memops videobuf2_core cfg80211 videodev snd_pcm joydev pcspkr sg snd_timer fam15h_power snd i2c_piix4 shpchp soundcore wmi video tpm_crb dell_rbtn rfkill pinctrl_amd i2c_designware_platform i2c_designware_core acpi_cpufreq ip_tables xfs libcrc32c sd_mod amdkfd crc_t10dif crct10dif_generic amd_iommu_v2 amdgpu i2c_algo_bit ahci drm_kms_helper rtsx_usb_sdmmc mmc_core libahci libata rtsx_usb syscopyarea sysfillrect sysimgblt fb_sys_fops ttm drm crct10dif_pclmul crct10dif_common crc32c_intel serio_raw r8169 mii i2c_hid i2c_core dm_mirror dm_region_hash dm_log dm_mod
CPU: 0 PID: 0 Comm: swapper/0 Kdump: loaded Not tainted 3.10.0-862.el7.x86_64 #1
Hardware name: Dell Inc.
