0017308: ImageMagick 6.9 Upgrade Causes Huge Increase in CPU and Memory Usage
Yesterday we upgraded our test hosts to CentOS 7.8, which included an upgrade to ImageMagick from 6.7 to 6.9. This upgrade caused a noticeable and detrimental effect in the use of the convert command. Processing time went from ~3 seconds to ~26 seconds in our 5425x5424 pixel images. The delays scaled by a factor of 4x, given the X by Y increase in pixels.

0017310: Current version of firewalld blocking return RELATED,ESTABLISHED packets (int/ext/nat)
I have a fairly basic firewalld configuration, which has been working since CentOS 8.0.

Internal (enp2s0)
External (enp3s0)

I had things configured using the three entries I've always used in the past for masquerade/NAT:

firewall-cmd --direct --add-rule ipv4 nat POSTROUTING 0 -o enp3s0 -j MASQUERADE
firewall-cmd --direct --add-rule ipv4 filter FORWARD 0 -i enp2s0 -o enp3s0 -j ACCEP
firewall-cmd --direct --add-rule ipv4 filter FORWARD 0 -i enp3s0 -o enp2s0 -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT

All of these entries show up in the runtime and permanent. I have verified this within the firewall-config app. I've also rebooted numerous times, although I know I can just reload/restart the firewall as well.

After some digging, I found out that "-m state --state" is depreciated, so I shifted the command to:

# iptables -S
-P INPUT ACCEPT
-P FORWARD ACCEPT
-P OUTPUT ACCEPT
-A FORWARD -i enp2s0 -o enp3s0 -j ACCEPT
-A FORWARD -i enp3s0 -o enp2s0 -m conntrack --ctstate RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT

Did not resolve the issue.

Checked masq:

firewall-cmd --zone=external --query-masquerade
yes

I can communicate out-bound using 443, but there are issues with, for example, going to https://appleid.apple.com which, after popping a window to https://idmsa.apple.com displays:
0017314: SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/numad from using the sys_nice capability.
I am running CentOS 8.1.1911 on a Dell PowerEdge R510 with two CPU's. One of the workloads is virtualization, and to automatically tune this a bit I'm running numad as well. Recently I noticed the following error showing up in the logs. While a workaround is possible, I think this shouldn't be blocked in the first place.

Error in the logs:
SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/numad from using the sys_nice capability. For complete SELinux messages run: sealert -l 8e82cfec-1556-450c-9769-d0b6bc0a703c

Output of sealert -l 8e82cfec-1556-450c-9769-d0b6bc0a703c:
$ sudo sealert -l 8e82cfec-1556-450c-9769-d0b6bc0a703c
SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/numad from using the sys_nice capability.

***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests **************************

If you believe that numad should have the sys_nice capability by default.
Then you should report this as a bug.
You can generate a local policy module to allow this access.
Do
allow this access for now by executing:
0016525: new upstream microrelease flatpak 1.0.9
There is a new upstream microrelease of Flatpak (1.0.9), which brings backported fixes and improvements - the main being allowing use of extra_data in runtimes (which is required by the openh264 extension).

Installing the common dependency org.freedesktop.Platform.openh264/x86_64/19.08 from Flathub generates the following error:

Warning: Failed to install org.freedesktop.Platform.openh264/x86_64/19.08: runtime/org.freedesktop.Platform.openh264/x86_64/19.08 needs a later flatpak version (1.4.2;1.2.5;1.0.9;)

As noted by the error, bumping the Flatpak version from 1.0.6 to 1.0.9 would solve this issue. I can imagine it is an issue which will end up affecting many who wish to use Flatpaks on their CentOS system.

0015532: Centos 7.6 networking does not start on AWS EC2 Xen VM
I have upgraded both a Centos and RHEL EC2 instance to 7.6 release and after reboot neither instance will allow me to connect via SSH, it seems as though the networking service does not start at boot-time.

Extract from boot-log:
Reached target Network (Pre).
Starting LSB: Bring up/down networking...
Failed to start LSB: Bring up/down networking.
See 'systemctl status network.service' for details.

Will CentOS extras provide leapp?

0017318: Base cmake package erroneously provides "cmake3" and "3" versions of binaries
I assume this is a leftover from CentOS 7...

I have a library that needs 3.12 as a minimum.

Reverting the updates fixes the issue.
Is there anything known about this ? Is there an incorrect configuration option somewhere ?
